Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Stand-up paddleboarding is an outdoor water sports activity where a rider stands up on a large board and uses a paddle to move through the water.  SUP is one of the fastest-growing boardsports in the world.  The paddleboard ranges from 9'6" to 14' in length; it is about 32"wide and weighs between 20 and 40 pounds.

For me the Group & Family Session and the Sunset SUP were the most appealing, mainly as I was a complete beginner and the sunsets in the area are spectacular.  The Sunset SUP is definitely one not to be missed.  Not only did I experience the epic sunsets but I got up close with some of the amazing wildlife.

What you need
Your session will include access to all the equipment you will need.  IslandmageeSUP have a selection of top of the range paddleboards and paddles.  They also provide buoyancy aids and wetsuits to ensure your experience is comfortable, safe and fun.

Try and bring:
Wetsuit (if possible)
Swimwear to wear under wetsuit
Wetsuit boots or old shoes
Towel / changing robe
Sun protection

My experience
Paddleboarding was something I had wanted to try for a while but I was unsure how difficult it would be.  Adam answered all my queries and his guidance and positivity made this a really fun experience.  I am so glad I tried it as I have learned new skills, met new friends, saw breath-taking views and got a fantastic SUP workout.  I am already planning ahead for next summer.

  8. Have done this with Adam. He's the nicest and the harbour offers good sheltered spot for practise standing up but also brilliant coastline further out to whitehead and the odd seal!
